About JB Robotics:

Jim Bobrow is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
at the University of California, Irvine.

Jim received his Ph.D. from UCLA in 1983, and he joined the faculty at UC Irvine in 1984.

At UC Irvine, Jim teaches classes in Robotics and Control Systems.

Jim's research interests have included optimal control and motion planning for robots, design of pneumatic actuators and sensors for automation systems, robots for rehabilitation, and machine learning systems.

Jim has also been a Visiting Professor in Computer Science at Stanford University, and in Mechanical Engineering at MIT.

Other activities have included creating robots and automation devices for several start-up companies, and serving on organizing committees for leading conferences in control systems and robotics.

Awards include a Best Paper Award from IEEE, and several Best Teacher Awards from UCI.

Hobbies include riding motorcycles, surfing, and reading crime novels.
